Here I made a final project so grand, so ambitious that it completely blew up in my face.
I explain in the beginning what happened to me after showing this piece that was at least 3 times
longer than anything anybody presented for their final project in Video Art I.
What basically happened is I showed this and I could tell everybody in the class was a
little annoyed, which was really not a big surprise. But, the professor started asking me
so vague general questions about the piece, when I had already decided days before showing it that
I would not talk too much about it, sort of like Andy Warhol did with his work. So I kind of answered
her questions with question and said I don't know. When another student decided to chime in and ask
A whole long list of general question for about a minute, I don't remember any of which except the last one
which was something like "What did you want other people to think about this piece?".
So you have to understand that I had put my foot in my mouth many times in the class before and had a few
run ins with the professor previously,
which was another reason I had for not wanting to talk about it too much, that and just to let the work speak for itself.
When I answered "I don't know what other people are gonna think about it..." the professor interrupted me and said if
I wasn't gonna say anything about it that I should just sit down and lets move on to someone else's piece.
Well I was pretty shocked at that point because I was already sitting down, so she yelled this order out at me that basically
meant that my piece was going to be ignored, and not commented on by the class. The only piece all semester to
have that distinct honor.
Naturally I was pretty pissed about that later, but in class I just sat there with a shity
look on my face. So anyway's this version your seeing is not the version I showed that day.
This one is actually slightly longer with some commentary and the added intro.
So there is a lot of crap kind of thrown in, but all in all it's a very personal piece.
the one admittance I will make about it is that there is the part from my spanish class
which is just kind of slapped in their, but I think it's still worth watching.
I finally got to show this in Video Art II (with a different professor) and I got some great feedback finally.
Oh yeah, if anyone is in video art I now please give what's her name a stinky teacher evaluation.
I gave her one that she didn't really deserve, please help me get back at her.
